Reactors
1.Composition of Reactors:
The basic composition of reactors varies based on their types, but generally includes the following two categories:
1.1 Inductive Reactor (Inductor) Composition:
Coil or Windings: Typically composed of conductive coils or windings to introduce inductance.
Iron Core: most of inductors use an iron core to enhance inductance.
1.2 Capacitive Reactor (Capacitor) Composition:
Two Conductors: Usually formed by isolating two conductors with a dielectric, creating capacitance.
2. Classification of Reactors:
2.1 Classification by Type:
Inductive Reactors: Introduce inductance to counteract inductive properties.
Capacitive Reactors: Introduce capacitance to counteract capacitive properties.
2.2 Classification by Purpose:
Passive Reactors: Reactors without an energy source, mainly used to adjust circuit inductance or capacitance.
Active Reactors: Reactors with an energy source that can actively adjust circuit parameters.
3. Functions of Reactors:
3.1 Compensation of Circuit Parameters:
Inductive Reactors: Used to counteract inductance, reducing the phase delay of the current.
Capacitive Reactors: Used to counteract capacitance, reducing the phase lead of the current.
3.2 Power Factor Correction:
- By adjusting circuit inductance or capacitance, reactors can improve the power factor of the circuit, enhancing the efficiency of the power system.
4. Applications of Reactors:
4.1 Power Factor Correction:
- Used to adjust the power factor of a circuit, bringing it closer to the ideal value of 1.
4.2 High-Voltage Transmission Systems:
- Applied to adjust the stability of current and voltage, reducing voltage sags and current surges in power systems.
4.3 Power Electronic Devices:
- Used to enhance the performance and stability of devices, such as in inverters and frequency converters.
4.4 Filters:
- In electronic circuits, reactors can serve as components of filters, filtering out specific frequency signals.
Reactors have a wide range of applications in power systems, contributing to the improvement of stability, efficiency, and power factor in electrical circuits.
